Knowledge Base - HASP protection key


1. Download the latest driver installer [Sentinel_HASP_Run-time_cmd_line.zip version 5.90] from Aladdin site:
www.hasp.com/support/hasp-srm/enduser.aspx
1.1 If you used another computer for the download, copy this zip file to your Windows 7 computer.

2. Unzip it to get the file "haspdinst.exe"

3. Watch its directory information, you can get it if you click on the yellow folder icon [Screenshot...] you will need it in step 6 bellow.

4. Disconnect your HASP key from the computer.

5. Open a DOS Command window, as administrator user:
In Windows "Start" menu, Select "All Programs | Accessories".
Right-Click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator"

5.1 If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
A command window will open.

6. In the command window, use cd to change the directory to haspdinst.exe directory (see step 3 above) -
e.g.:
cd c:\
cd c:\my_temp_files\hasp_srm . . .

7. To install the latest Alladin driver, in the command window, type - haspdinst -install

8. Connect your HASP key to the computer.

9. Verify that the HASP light is ON. (You might need to wait till the "found new hardware" pop-up will approve using the device)

10. You can now close the command window.

1. Disconnect your HASP key from the computer.
2. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet
3. Make sure "automatic updating" is turned on. (See instruction (3) and screenshot bellow)
4. Make sure Windows can automatically download recommended drivers. (See instruction (4) and screenshot bellow)
5. Connect your HASP key to the computer. Wait till its light is ON.


(3) How to turn "automatic updating" On or Off

3.1. Open "Windows Update" program.
3.2. In the left pane, click "Change settings".
3.3. Under "Important updates", choose the option that you want.
3.4. Under "Recommended updates", select the "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates" check box, and then click "OK".
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3.5. You can also choose if you want to allow anyone to install updates by selecting the "Allow all users to install updates on this computer" check box.


(4) How to have Windows automatically download recommended drivers and icons

4.1 Open "Devices and Printers".
4.2 Right-click the name of your computer, and then click "Device installation settings".
4.3 Click "Yes, do this automatically (recommended)", and then click "Save changes".
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
4.4 If "Yes" is already selected, click "Cancel" to close the dialog box.

This message might appear when you try to update the HASP key, but, the HASP key was not updated because there is a HASP driver mis-match, or that the utility was run on a computer without HASP4 driver. To solve the problem, you need to install the latest HASP4 driver from Aladdin site.

Please follow those instructions that will allow you to install the latest HASP4 driver:

  1. Disconnect your HASP protection key from your computer.
  2. Download the latest HASP4_driver_setup.zip from Aladdin site - http://www.hasp.com/h4
  3. Unzip and execute the setup.
  4. Windows 7: You might get [Operating system not supported] error message. Click OK.
  5. Reboot your computer.
  6. Connect your HASP protection key to the USB port.
  7. Windows might recognize the key as "New Hardware" and might install more drivers. Please wait till all these drivers are installed, and the HASP light is ON.
  8. Activate Molecular Conceptor to verify that the HASP driver is working well.
  9. Activate the utility update_key.exe

This message appears when there was a problem during the installation, or the plug-and-play processes of the HASP driver. You need to install the latest HASP4 driver from Aladdin site. Please follow those instructions that will allow you to install the new driver:

  1. Disconnect your HASP protection key from your computer.
  2. Reboot your computer
  3. Download the latest HASP4_driver_setup.zip from Aladdin site - http://www.hasp.com/h4
  4. Unzip and execute the setup.
  5. Reboot your computer.
  6. Connect your HASP protection key to the USB port.
  7. Activate Molecular Conceptor.

If it did not solve the problem, you need to remove manually the old driver from your computer prior to the installation of the new driver. Please contact us for detailed instructions.

Molecular Conceptorâ„¢ continually checks the presence of the HASP key. If it could not find it, the program would stop running.

The HASP protection key has to be in the computer port during the run of Molecular Conceptorâ„¢. If it is not recognized, the program prompts with "HASP plug not found".

  • If the key is not already in the computer port - insert it.
  • If the key was already attached - un-plug it and insert it again. Verify that its light is ON.
